Bea Schriver of Bea Schriver Florals in Wilton, Conn. (www.beaschriverflorals.com) has been selected by acclaimed interior designer Olga Adler to provide a custom faux floral arrangement for the upcoming “Rooms with a View” designer showhouse in Southport on November 4-6. Adler, President of Olga Adler Interiors in Ridgefield (www.olgaadlerinteriors.com), chose Schriver to work with her on a fantasy room vignette for the showhouse based on the romance of travel.
“My room is entitled, Where to Next?,” Adler said. “It’s a woman’s retreat. She fills the room with mementos of her journeys, all with the power to evoke the feelings experienced along the way. She basks in the memories of her latest voyage while contemplating her next adventures knowing that all journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler may be unaware.”
Adler has traveled widely throughout Europe, Africa and Asia, and she infuses these influences into her American design sensibility. As head of a fast-growing interior design and lifestyle company in Ridgefield, she is a decorating strategist who advises women on how to live with style, at home and beyond.
Bea Schriver Florals is a design studio that focuses on creating permanent floral arrangements for homes and businesses that want the real beauty of fresh cut flowers, trees, topiaries, greenery and flowering plants.
In addition to Schriver's floral arrangement, Adler’s room vignette includes materials and services from a variety of other area designer resources. The vignette features Mythic paints, a special non-toxic paint that is certified “green” yet produces high-end results.
Now in its 17th year, Rooms with a View is the county’s premier design event. Each year, just 12 designers are invited to create vignettes in 5-by-8-foot spaces. The mini-rooms are staged in the library and great hall of the Southport Congregational Church. The show’s 2011 theme, “The Next Generation,” pays homage to legendary 90-year-old designer Albert Hadley, who personally selected each of this year’s young designers.
The Showhouse will be open to the public from 10 am to 5 pm on Friday and Saturday, November 4 and 5, and from 11 am to 5 pm on Sunday, November 6. General admission tickets are $20. For information or tickets, call (203) 255-4538 or email rwav@southportucc.org.
