Booth, who worked as a school crossing guard, was reportedly in front of Mt. Mourne School when he was struck by a car driven by a 23-year-old woman, who claimed she did not see him. He died a short time later at the hospital.
Former superintendent of the Wilton Department of Public Works Frank Booth reportedly died Wednesday, Nov. 14, after being struck by a car while directing traffic in front of a school in Iredell County, N.C. He was 59.
Booth, who served the Town of Wilton for 33 years, was retired but worked as a school crossing guard with the Iredell-Statesville School System.
According to a report on WCNC.com in Charlotte, Booth was in front of Mt. Mourne School when he was struck by a car driven by a 23-year-old woman, who claimed she did not see him. He died a short time later at the hospital.

"Frank was a big man with a big smile with a big heard and he made an impression everywhere he went,” School Principal Dr. Boen Nutting told WCNC.com. “I would have parents roll down the windows and say 'Do you realize what a gem you have in your safety officer?'"
Investigators reportedly told the NBC affiliate that the woman, Sarah McMinn, was not speeding and was not impaired, however an investigation was still underway.

Booth, of Mooresville, NC, was a lifetime member of the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Elizabeth Hawley Booth; children, Frank C. Booth, Jr. and wife, Meredith, of Mooresville and Danielle Booth, of Bethel; one brother and one sister; and very close special friends, Bobby, Phyllis, Cory, Kelly, and Christian Honeycutt.
