Motorists Arrested for DUI, Other Charges

Driver rear-ends stopped school bus; another passes a stopped school bus.

 

The following information was provided by the Wilton Police Department Tuesday; it does not indicate convictions.

A 26-year-old motorist was detected driving 54 mph in a 40 mph zone and trying to pass another northbound vehicle on Rt. 7 near Scribner Hill Road Saturday at 2:46 a.m.

The driver, later identified as George Rioseco, of 26 Beaver Brook Road, Ridgefield, then cut in front of the vehicle he was passing. Upon being stopped, he was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages and was unable to perform standardized field sobriety tests.

Rioseco was taken into custody, charged with traveling unreasonably fast, improper passing and operating under the influence. He was released on a promise to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on May 10.

A Ridgefield man, whose driver’s license had expired last September, was stopped on Rt. 7 near Catalpa Road on Sunday at 1:43 a.m. for operating a vehicle without tail lights.

The driver, Marian Orlowski, 48, of 48 Woodland Way, was also found to be under the influence of alcohol.

He was charged with DUI, operating a motor vehicle without a license and failure to have tail lights, and released on a promise to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on May 12.

After receiving a complaint of a white Audi A4 driving erratically, a vehicle matching that description was stopped traveling north on Danbury Road near Rt. 102 on Sunday at 12:09 a.m.

The driver, Alfred Mierzejewski, 58, of 15 Highview Drive, Pound Ridge, N.Y., was found to be operating under the influence.

He was arrested and released on a promise to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on May 12.

A Norwalk motorist, Lester Harris, 38, of 26 Triangle St., was pulled over Thursday at 10:45 p.m. for having a headlight out on Rt. 7 near Wolfpit Road.

A records check revealed that his operator’s license was suspended and there was an active arrest warrant from Norwalk Superior Court for failure to appear in court in the second degree.

Harris was arrested, processed and released on $500 bond, with a court date set for May 9.

Albert Nickel, 67, of 65 Keeler’s Ridge Road, Wilton, was injured when his vehicle rear-ended a stopped school bus on Belden Hill Road last Thursday at 3:35 p.m., police reported. The First Student bus was driven by Jeffrey Palmer, 55, of Weston.

An ambulance was called, but Nickel declined to be transported to a hospital. He was released on a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance behind another vehicle.

A Wilton driver was stopped for passing a stopped school bus that was unloading passengers on Drum Hill Road on April 26 at approximately 3 p.m.

The man, Mark Saraiva, 35, of 1 Tito Lane, claimed the bus’ blinking lights were activated late. He was released with a written warning.

A vehicle crashed into the stone wall of the residence at 276 Ridgefield Road and drove off, reportedly between 1:50 and 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The car, identified as a silver Honda, was traveling north on Drum Hill Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Ridgefield Road. It received extensive front damage.

Henry K. Snyder, 45, of 191 Westport Road, Wilton, turned himself in on April 27 after learning there was a warrant for his arrest stemming from a domestic dispute that occurred at his residence on March 29.

Snyder was released on $5,000 bond and was to appear in court on April 28.

A Bridgeport woman, Kamil Alima, 48, of 922 Howard Ave., an employee of a company hired by an elderly person, was arrested and charged with stealing $20 from a resident of Avalon Springs condos, 25 River Road, on April 27.

She was charged with larceny in the sixth degree and released on $5,000 bond. Her court date is May 6.

A collapsible folding chair was found in the parking lot of the Gilbert & Bennett School. With proper description it may be claimed at the Wilton Police Department.
