Winter Storm Nemo is No Sweat for Some Wiltonians

Stop & Shop on River Road was busy Thursday afternoon, but some residents weren't there for last-minute storm prep.

The parking lot at Stop & Shop on River Road was packed early Thursday afternoon, perhaps due to residents prepping for Friday's winter storm, which according to forecasters, could dump up to 18 inches of snow over the area, but some shoppers inside weren't stocking up on storm essentials.

"I just don't have any food," Nicole Murphy told Patch as she packed her bags into her car. "But I don't think [the storm] is going to be that bad."

Murphy, who has been living in Wilton for four years, predicts that only about four inches will fall on the town, but she has a generator in her home just in case. She said that the only prep she'll probably do before tomorrow is getting some snow tires for her van.

When asked how she'll deal with keeping her three children occupied over the weekend, Murphy said she'll pull out some classic board games, such as Monopoly and Yahtzee.

"I love it," she said about being snowed in with her kids. "I can't wait."

Inside, Lucy Davies, who has lived in Wilton for almost seven years, had a cart filled with groceries, but said that that she was just doing some general shopping.

"I only came to get dog food," she said. "I came with small list, but one thing led to another..."

She said that with two fireplaces and a gas stove in her home, her family should remain comfortable even if the power goes out, but she doesn't take storm prep lightly.

"My mom's house in South Norwalk was destroyed [during Superstorm Sandy] and she's still dealing with it, so that's puts everyhing into perspective for me," she said.
