8/22: Police received complaints on 7/30 from a woman who “believed she had been photographed or videotaped without her knowledge” by her ex-boyfriend, whom police identified as John Panek, 26, of Wilton. Police said that the taping allegedly occurred at the accused’s home.

Reports say that a warrant was obtained based on the woman’s allegations, and “numerous data storage items,” such as computer files, were seized. Police then obtained an arrest warrant for Panek after investigating the data. While police did not disclose specifics, Lieutenant Donald Wakeman said that the recorded data involved a situation “where there had to be some expectation of privacy.” Police charged Panek with voyeurism, a Class D felony. After turning himself in, Panek posted a $25,000 bond and was issued a promise to appear in court.
