Wilton Police Charge Three Drivers WIth DUI

Three drivers were found to be under the influence last week.

Andre Luis Pacheco De Almeida, 31, of Danbury was arrested on Sept. 8 at 3:57 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to drive right, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and driving with defective tires.

According to , Almeida was driving north on Danbury Road in the area of Honey Hill Road when he crossed the double yellow line into the southbound lane, nearly striking a police car. Upon investigation, it was determined Almeida had consumed alcohol prior to driving. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.

He was held on $500 bond and given a Sept. 18 court date.

According to police, as he was being released, the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement requested the Wilton Police Department hold Almeida for ICE.

Shawn Wade, 48, of Redding was arrested on Sept. 8 at 1:58 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to stay in the proper lane and failure to renew registration.

According to police, an officer on patrol noticed a black pickup truck heading north on Danbury Road. It was weaving. The truck then turned onto Westport Road and its left turn signal went on, appearing to turn into a business. The truck then swerved back into the road and took a left on Dudley Road.

Police determined Wade had been drinking alcohol. He subsequently failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.

He was released in the morning on a promise to appear at a Sept. 18 court date.

Elena Hoffman, 43, of Norwalk was arrested on Sept. 6 at 2:35 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to drive in the established lane and failure to renew registration.

According to police, officers observed a vehicle driving erratically southbound on Danbury Road, “swerving within its lane of travel and drifting to its right, ending up with its right tires over the shoulder line.”

After stopping the vehicle, it was determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol. She failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.

Hoffman was released on a promise to appear at a Sept. 17 court date.
