Maybe she’ll also learn that no matter how many laws you pass, you can’t regulate irresponsibility out of existence. Grown-ups still have to be grown-ups. Maybe she will also learn how the Bill of Rights is supposed to work, and how one amendment strengthens another. At a minimum, people like Heidi Yewman should be passingly familiar with the Constitutional rights they’re agitating to take away from their fellow citizens."

But that tradition died when 6-year-old Jesse was shot and killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
This Father’s Day, Heslin, who has been active with other Sandy Hook parents in pushing for gun control legislation, is giving his support to the No Father’s Day campaign.
Speaking at a media teleconference to launch the campaign, Heslin said, “Jesse was my only child, my only immediate family. I don’t have a father to share Father’s Day with.”
Initiated by PICO National Network’s Lifelines to Healing Campaign, the campaign asks participants to send e-cards to Congress, urging passage of legislation to create universal background checks and end gun trafficking.

From linked article_______ "The victims “have a financial uncertainty, they need the…Read More money,” Feinberg said. “You have to say, ‘Here’s the money, here’s what we’re doing with it.’”
Some Newtown families say that didn't happen in their town. Lafferty-Hassinger posted to Facebook her frustration about the United Way requiring "proof of hardship" to determine how to distribute funds:
"We shouldn't have to fight for what is rightfully ours, but we won't be taken advantage of in our darkest hour," she wrote. "We've all been walking a fine line between not wanting to profit from the death of our loved ones and not wanting someone else to profit from our source of grief. We went down when we were kicked, but we are Sandy Hook. It's time to stand back up."___________ I reckon my questions are thusly: What financial uncertainty is there in the death of a child, AND since when did money that is donated privately become something that is 'rightfully' belonging to someone else due to a tragedy that is not a natural event like a tornado or hurricane?

In just over a minute, Bridenstine rattled off the lengthy list of scandals and missteps that have occurred under President Obama. The GOP lawmaker said the fact that his administration is spinning out of control proves Obama is 'not fit to lead' …
“The president’s Justice Department sold weapons to narco-terrorists south of our border, who killed one of our finest.
"The president’s State Department lied about Benghazi with false information provided by the White House.
"The president’s attorney general authorized spying on a Fox News reporter and his family for reporting on a North Korean nuclear test.
"The president’s Justice Department confiscated phone records of the Associated Press because they reported on a thwarted terrorist attack.
"The president’s Treasury Department uses the IRS to target political opposition.
"The president’s Health and Human Services secretary pressures insurance companies she is supposed to regulate to promote ‘Obamacare,’ which is the same law she uses to force citizens to pay for abortion inducing drugs against their religious liberties.”
"He then went on to say that the president’s 'dishonesty, incompetence, vengefulness and lack of moral compass lead many to suggest that he is not fit to lead.'”
“'The only problem is that his vice president is equally unfit and even more embarrassing,' Bridenstine concluded."

The question of where to turn as a parent is a tough one because as a parent it is difficult to take…Read More an objective view as to whether your child may or may not have a behavioral or mental health issie. A parent may not be attuned to a potential problem or be in denial of an issue.
Since behavior disorders in children often present with external signs, frequently a school counselor may be the first person to bring up a behavioral issue to a parent. The reason is two fold. First, as mentioned, a school counselor is not the childs parent so is able to take an objective and clinical view with regards to student behavior. Second, school counselors are trained professionals who have specific knowledge and skills that provide them with an ability to understand when student behavior may be simply a maturity issue, a child having a difficult phase of a temporary nature or whether an issue may be more complex requiring further examination.
Pre school and regular school teachers and counselors can provide a lot of feedback to parents regarding their child.

1) Start with the child's pediatrician. Basic mental health evaluations are part of every complete…Read More 'well-child' checkup. A good pediatrician will be sensitive to your concerns, while assuring that your child receives proper help, as needed. If you can't comfortably speak to your child's pediatrician, you've got the 'wrong' pediatrician!
2) Are there any health care professionals amongst family and friends that you trust? See if they will advise you with discretion.
3) If you have a trusted clergy person in your life who knows your family, speak with them for advice and referrals.
4) There are 'support groups' for parents with children who are mentally ill. Many of them will be happy to speak with you and guide you.
5) Don't forget 'anonymous' 'help lines' for input. You local hospital social worker can also direct you to support and services.
Two DON'TS: DON'T try any extreme diets or therapies on your own and DON'T 'not do anything’, ‘hoping/praying’ things will go away. They won't. Trust your parental 'instincts'!

Very compelling comparison - do not listen to the people on ObamaCare, bulldoze through legislation…Read More without providing the American people access to read it...oh, they didn't provide it to their own party either. That being said the polls and statements regarding American people's positions need a hard look. THe UConn poll is silent as to geographic distribution and political distribution across the state and they used 'cell phone lines' in their polling. Quinnipiac appears to miss entire chunks of the United States in their polling. Obama's '40% of gun purchases are done without background checks' is inaccurate and from a meager poll of @200 Marylanders from 1994 - a poll that one of its authors states the answers were far to generalized to interpret properly.
