2nd Annual KIDZFEST Touch-A-Truck Fundraiser Slated for October 5, 2013

Norwalk, CT:  The big red fire truck, lights flashing, horns blaring, rushing to an emergency, imagine you are the driver; watching the digger and bulldozer moving huge piles of dirt on a construction site, wishing you could be behind the controls!  You can do all of that and much more on Saturday, October 5, 2013, as Children’s Connection, a program of the Human Services Council hosts its 2nd Annual KIDZFEST Touch-A-Truck Fundraiser at Taylor Farm Park from 10 am – 4 pm.  KIDZFEST is an exciting, hands-on, family event, offering the unique opportunity for young and old alike to get in and explore construction, emergency, and recreation vehicles of all sizes that are typically off limits to the public.   Emergency vehicles include:  police vehicles, crime scene investigation trucks and ATVs (from local police departments), ambulance, scuba boat, Norwalk fire trucks, State Police explosive detection trucks and the State Police explosive sniffing dog team; and construction vehicles: excavator, wheel loader, skid steer, dump truck, flat bed with fork lift, and race car just to name a few.  The Eagle One Helicopter, operated by the Stratford Police Department and utilized by Fairfield County Police Departments, will be making a special appearance from 10 am – 1 pm (weather permitting).  Additionally, attendees can ride the Roaming Railroad, and participate in other activities including face painting, music, games, and much more!  The Meltmobile, as seen on the Food Network, will be serving up some fabulous gourmet grilled cheeses and Mister Softee’s Ice Cream will be sure to impress with their sweet treats.

KIDZFEST raises funds to support Children’s Connection, a nationally accredited Children’s Advocacy Center that works to identify, substantiate, and treat cases of sexual and severe physical abuse while working towards its mission of creating a world where no child is harmed and no family is left without guidance.  “We are really excited to be holding this event again,” said Kari Pesavento, Director of Children’s Connection.  “Last year over 800 people attended KIDZFEST and we hope to surpass that number this year.  With 30 plus trucks scheduled to attend as well as other activities, KIDZFEST is gearing up to be the perfect day for a family outing,” added Pesavento.  Tickets for KIDZFEST are $5 per person and are available at the gate.  If you would like to make a donation and/or participate in KIDZFEST please contact (203) 849-1111 or visit www.hscct.org
