Connecticut Little Symphony performs at Wilton Library January 13

Beautiful strains of ensemble chamber music will emanate from Wilton Library’s Brubeck Room on Sunday, January 13, from 4 to 5 p.m. when the Connecticut Little Symphony performs live in a Connecticut’s Own
concert.  The Connecticut Little Symphony is a dedicated group of professional musicians from Connecticut and New York who have come together to bring ensemble chamber music to Fairfield County.  Performing at many area concerts and venues, the group comes to the library to share the music of Debussy, Rachmaninoff and Thuille.

Collectively the musicians of the Connecticut Little Symphony have performed with notable organizations such as New York Philharmonic; the Dallas Symphony; Dallas Ballet Orchestra, Stamford, Norwalk, Wallingford, Greenwich, and Bridgeport Symphonies; the Chappaqua Orchestra; La Orquesta Sinfonica de Maracaibo; Broadway shows; and various chamber ensembles.

They have studied in some of the finest institutions such as Juilliard, the Manhattan School of Music, Yale, Eastman, the Mannes School of Music, New England Conservatory, and other institutions.  The Connecticut Little Symphony states that “all of this experience in one ensemble makes for dynamic and unparalleled music-making, a thrilling audience experience, and a great way to spend an
evening with excellent music that has stood the test of time.”

The musicians performing in the Sunday concert are Maxim Pakhomov, piano; Jane Shelly, flute; Dorothy Darlington, oboe; Janet Atherton, clarinet, Ray Guier, horn; and
Rosemary Dellinger, bassoon.  The pieces that will be played at the library concert are Debussy—Petite Suite; Rachmaninoff—Etudes Tableaux, Op. 39 and Thuille—Sextetfor Piano and Winds.

The Connecticut’s Own Concert series is free of charge.  Advance registration is strongly recommended.  Those wishing to attend the concert should visit www.wiltonlibrary.org and click on “Events” or call 203-762-3950, ext. 213.  Pre-registered attendees should arrive no
later than 3:50 to be guaranteed seating.  Wait-listed and walk-in registrants will be accommodated after 3:50 if
space is available.   Wilton Library is located at 137 Old Ridgefield Road in the heart of Wilton Center.
