Cycle Against Cancer to Benefit the CT Sports Foundation at Sportsplex

Cycle Against Cancer is an indoor “spinning” fundraising event that will benefit CT cancer patients and their families through the Connecticut Sports Foundation (CSF). CSF was founded 25 years ago and provides financial support to CT cancer patients and their families.

This event will take place at Sportsplex Stamford and the same event will take place at Sportsplex Bethel. Both locations have entered into a friendly competition to raise the most money for CT cancer patients.

The spin portion of this event will take place in two sessions, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Each team will be provided one spin bike and will strive to raise a minimum of $1,000. Each team will decide who will spin for the designated amount of time during the 3-hour session. This will be a high energy day as we come together to raise money for cancer patients in need.

Why support this event?

CSF provides financial assistance to CT families stricken with cancer for rent, mortgage, utilities, car payments, medical co-pays, food, medications, gasoline and transportation to and from hospital/treatment centers. Our goal is to allow them to focus on their treatment.

Brenda Gonzales of Stamford, CT was diagnosed with AML Leukemia, a cancer to the blood in April 2012. She has
already undergone several chemotherapy treatments and blood transfusions, which will be followed by a bone marrow transplant in hopes that her body will stop
producing cancer cells. Despite the long road ahead of her she is fighting every day and still manages to keep her free spirit and faith.

Alexa Osckasy resides in Bethel and was diagnosed with a Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor, a very rare form of cancer when she was 4 months old.  Alexa underwent chemotherapy and was scheduled to have a surgery this past June but the tumor came back.  She is currently undergoing treatment.

Brenda and Alexa will be a 2012 grant recipients, along with other CT cancer patients across the State.

THE TOP FUNDRAISER will earn two tickets to CSF’s Annual Celebrity Dinner & Memorabilia event on Friday, February 8th at Mohegan Sun and the opportunity to meet Mark Teixeira, STAR first baseman for the New York Yankees. For more information about CSF and the Annual Dinner event: www.sportsfoundation.org.

All dollars raised through the Cycle Against Cancer and all
CSF events STAY within the State of CT.

British soldier was hacked to death with a machete. The soldier is not allowed to have a gun but theRead More terrorists had a firearm but chose to behead the soldier. The suspects spoke to camera after attack. “We swear by Almighty Allah, we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone. The only reasons we killed this man is because Muslims are dying daily. This British soldier is an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. We apologize that woman had to see this today, but in our lands our women have to see the same. You people will never be safe. Remove your government. They don’t care about you.”

Israel knows who their enemy is and are not afraid to call them out. After 4 Americans were killedRead More by terrorists in Benghazi, when violence in the Middle East was raging, President Obama in partnership with Hillary Clinton spent $70,000 in taxpayer money on a commercial that aired on Pakistani television apologizing for the "video." We are sorry. We are going to get the man who made the video who exercised freedom of speech and arrest him. Any terrorist suspects questioned yet?

PR - It appears that the writer of this item is none other than McMurphy who has been polluting theRead More Patch since the new format arose (just click on the writer's name and you will be taken to McMurphy's profile page). This person is also Randall McMurphy and all the old names including AZ. From all indications, he/she is also DB Cooper so this person is posting on this Board and then commenting on his/her own posts. As someone pointed out a couple of weeks ago, trying to trick other readers is a violation of the Patch's rules, and yet it continues.

@DB Cooper: Oh, you mean how you used your multiple personalities and screen names to flag me intoRead More oblivion? The thing is, it won't work this time. Try again, stalker. Try harder. LOL! You don't have enough fake personalities this time around to do such a thing. Thanks again for stopping by my blog. :) LOL! Hook, line, sinker.
