Stay at Home in Wilton and Wilton Library present a very special concert, "The Great American Songbook," performed by Dr. Joe Utterback. Dr. Utterback is a superb pianist, but even a better story teller with music. He is comfortable playing with Symphony Orchestras, Jazz Ensembles, but usually by himself. As a celebrated American jazz pianist, composer, and recording artist "Dr. Joe" is a featured performer throughout the United States. From the Tony Awards dinners in New York City to music festivals across the country, his high-energy piano jazz delights audiences. Joe infuses familiar blues, ballads, Broadway, and jazz classics with a captivating, dynamic style. He is also a prolific composer of jazz compositions which are based on his improvisations and colored by jazz harmonies, as well as the wonderful sonorities of Romantic and Impressionist traditions.
The concert will be held in Wilton Library's Brubeck Room on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 2:00. Sunday's concert will be a repertoire from the Great American Songbook of the '40s, '50s and '60s. There is no charge for the program, however reservations are strongly urged to assure that seats will be available. There will be a reception following the concert.
