Wilton Kiwanis Golf Outing to Benefit VNH & WYC

Kiwanis Golf Outing to Benefit VNH & WYC

The Kiwanis Club of Wilton recently announced that the proceeds of their 4th annual Golf Outing, set for Monday October 1st at Silvermine Golf Club, will benefit Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County, Wilton Youth Council, and their own Wilton Kiwanis Foundation. This year’s

event will offer two playing options, the Classic 18-hole course, or an Executive 9-hole tourney starting later in the day. The golf will be followed by dinner, silent
and live auctions, raffles and prizes, and is being sponsored by Hoyt Funeral, Wilton Bank, Bruce Bennett Nissan, Titus Built, Servco Oil, Wilton Bulletin, and many
others. Additional sponsorships are still available and player registrations are being reserved at www.wiltonkiwanis.org.

Co-Chair Jeff Turner said “Thanks to the generous sponsors and players participating over the past 3 years, this event has become our largest fundraiser of the year, and to date has contributed over $75,000 of funds to distribute to worthy community organizations. We hope this year builds upon those successes so we can help fund the Home Telehealth Program offered by Visiting Nurse & Hospice and the important counseling services provided by Wilton Youth Council.”

Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County, the mission is to provide clinically excellent, compassionate care to enhance the health, well-being, independence, and dignity of community residents.  The skilled team includes hundreds of dedicated healthcare professionals, paraprofessionals and volunteers ready to serve you

Wilton Youth Council was established by a concerned group of parents following a 1980s survey showing a marked increase in underage drinking among youth in the
community. Findings indicated a need for better communication and inter-disciplinary organization among our schools, police, town government and parent groups to combat this and other risky behaviors. Working quietly in the background, Wilton Youth Council sponsors youth centered programs and activities in town and in the
schools as resources of support for our teens, pre-teens and parents. Arranging speakers at parenting workshops to illuminate parent concerns, publishing newsletter
articles to spark parent-teen conversation about dangers of underage drinking and drug use, and sponsoring the Post Graduation Party for our High School Seniors to enjoy a safe gathering to celebrate, are just a few examples of how
the Wilton Youth Council works to move the community forward in a positive direction as families.  For more

Bill I have some possible good news for you. After reading this, I stopped by the Village Market onRead More my way home from a slow, rainy day in the Center in hopes of picking up some kumquats for Filbert. They are out. So it sounds like some of our fellow Wiltonians are laying kumquats around town. I just hope the rain has not scared Filbert. Best to you and your family. I shall pray for you in Church this weekend.

You miss the DAZE of George W?, failing banks, auto industry going under, record high homeRead More forclosures and unemployment, etc etc. Obama is getting it right! BOSTON (Reuters) - The average 401(k) retirement balance for U.S. workers hit a record high of $80,900 in the first quarter, a growth spurt of 75 percent since the stock market's nadir in March 2009, Fidelity Investments said on Thursday based on a survey of its accounts. Most of the recovery is linked to a stock market rally that has lifted the broad S&P 500 Index 145 percent since the close of trading on March 9, 2009. The 401(k) recovery looks even better for workers 55 and older, according to Boston-based Fidelity, the largest U.S. administrator of 401(k) retirement plans. Those pre-retirement workers have seen their average balance nearly double to $255,000 since the first quarter of 2009 when the average balance was $130,700. The analysis covers people who have been with their current employer 10 or more years, Fidelity said.
