Good Looks, Good Health: Diabetes is a Family Affair

The Connecticut Nurses’ Foundation will host a free program – Good Looks, Good Health: Diabetes is a Family Affair – on Sunday, November 17, at the Charles F. Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University, from noon to 4:30 p.m.

Since statistics indicate that nearly 26 million children and adults in the United States – approximately 10% of the population – have diabetes, the program is designed to educate families about diabetes management and promote the resources available in communities across Fairfield County. The half-day event will include diabetes risk assessments, health screenings, dance, exercise and fitness instructions, and community and educational resource handouts. Attendees will also have the chance to meet local certified diabetes educators and dietitians, and win raffle prizes.

The keynote speaker is Zonya Foco, a registered dietician, star of her own PBS show “Zonya’s Health Bites,” and author of articles published in Shape, Fitness and Prevention magazines.  Known as a master of inspiration, motivation and visual humor, Foco provides information and simple solutions that help people improve health, create balance and maximize energy. Foco’s presentation will begin at 1:30 p.m.
