Gone to the Dogs: Princess, Kara and an Adopt-A-Dog Enrichment Day

Enrichment Open House at Adopt a Dog, Adoptables, and Puppies!

DAWS in Bethel, Puppy Open House, Saturday, Dec. 21, 1:00-3:00pm

Meet Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Comet, Donner, Blitzen, and Vixen -- puppies who are looking for their forever homes!

Foster needed for "Kara," a Shepherd Mix. Adopt-A-Dog is
looking for a foster home or permanent home for her as she is becoming VERY stressed in the kennel environment. Kara is a 2 year old shepherd mix. She's very friendly with every person that she meets. Kara loves swimming and playing with toys. Kara is VERY smart, loves to "work" (we'll play "find it" and have her find hidden treats) and is very focused when it comes to training. Kara also loves to do agility. Ideally we would like her to be the only pet in the household (she's picky with other dogs). If people are interested in Kara, they can call Adopt a Dog at (914) 273-1674 or email Kristen at Kristen@adoptadog.org.

Adopt A Dog is hosting  a Winter Enrichment Day t their sanctuary on Saturday, December 21, 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at 23 Cox Ave, Armonk, NY

Activities include treat making, toy making, and a group walk.

Space is limited for each activity so if you would like to participate in one of our activities, please emaileleni@adoptadog.org.

Treat Making 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Our first activity of the day is open to anyone who is interested, including current volunteers and individuals interested in becoming volunteers. It is also open to children of any age. The plan for this activity is to make winter themed cookies for each dog, as well as healthy boredom busting treat toys for them to enjoy in their kennels.

Toy Making 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
The second activity of the day is also open to anyone interested, including current and brand new volunteers, as well as children of any age. The plan for this activity is to make a holiday present for each of our dogs and cats to unwrap. We will be making recycled toys for each homeless pet to keep them entertained and feeling loved while they wait for their forever families. We will then be wrapping them in holiday paper for them to open on Christmas Day.

Princess from OPIN. Princess is a Sharbea (Sharpei-Beagle mix) and a perfect medium sized dog.  Part of the Lonely Hearts Club (meaning either senior or animals that have been at the shelter just too long), Princess moved from the shelter and is now in OPIN’s foster program.

Outreach to Pets In Need is the nonprofit that provides the financial support and foster care for the shelter animals.  Princess waited and waited for her new home and frankly, we could not understand why she kept getting passed by.

Now Princess will spend the holidays in a warm and loving foster home while she searches for a permanent forever home.  She’s five years old, house-broken, leash-trained, and has a low energy level.  Princess is a quiet dog.  She doesn't even bark when people come to the door!  Maybe 2014 will be Princess’ lucky year.

To meet Princess, contact OPIN by emailing:   outreach@opinpets.org or, call Anya at: 203-216-9204.  You can also go to our website and fill out an application for Princess at:  www.opinpets.org.
