Countdown to the Alden Sherman Classic Car Show

In his 90s, Alden Shermanhas spend 70 hears collecting, racing and fixing cars. This weekend's car show promises fun for car and motorcycle enthusiasts, with proceeds going toward a good cause.

The Alden Sherman Classic car and motorcycle show will celebrate its second year on September 22, 2013, from 10:00a.m.-3:00p.m. at Weston High School. The Classic is a community-driven event for motoring enthusiasts of all ages and funds raised will benefit of the Weston Senior Activities Center. 

The Alden Sherman Classic will showcase 100 years of unique automobiles and motorcycles spanning. Last year’s inaugural show featured more than 200 cars and motorcycles and drew 1,000 enthusiasts. The event raised $26,000 to fund programs at the Weston Senior Activities Center. 

This year’s event will feature car club parking corrals, a silent auction, varied lunch offerings, and the public’s opportunity to vote for their favorite car and motorcycle with People’s Choice ballots.

Sherman, a sought-after participant in regional shows and rallies, is a Weston car collector who is often be spotted tooling around the area’s winding roads in one of his Bugattis, Amilcars, Jaguars, or Ferraris.  His youthful enthusiasm belies his 90+ years, 70 of which he has spent collecting, racing, and fixing cars.

The Weston Senior Activities Center offers a broad array of programs and services to the Town’s senior community, which makes up approximately 20% of Weston’s population, as well as those from surrounding towns.

This event is for premier cars and motorcycles.  Proceeds raised from this event will go to the “Friends of the Weston Senior Activities Center."
