A Night of Exploration at Woodcock's Howl Prowl

As days grow shorter and nights grow colder, spirits take to the air in anticipation of Halloween.

The Woodcock Nature Center is also readying for this spooky time of year, once again offering its Family Howl Prowl on Friday, October 26. Keep in mind the event, however, is kid-friendly and scary in name only.

This registration-only event, which was sold out last year, will start with a hayride down the driveway lined with jack o'lanterns and luminaries. Families will be able to partake in a flashlight scavenger hunt in the woods, a trip out on a raft to spot night animals, a s'more station and the opportunity to meet and greet some of the Center's resident animals.

The main event of the evening will be an appearance by Atka, the ambassador wolf from the nearby Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, NY. During Atka's visit, a trainer will teach children and families different facts and information about wolves and their environment and answer any questions.

Children are invited to wear their costumes to this non-scary Halloween alternative. It is a great event for families and a fun and unique way to celebrate the season.

The Family Howl Prowl is Friday October 26 and costs $40 per family. Reservations are required as this event did sell out last year.

Families can sign up to arrive at 5, 5:30, 6 or 6:30.

MasterCard and Visa are accepted for payment. The rain date will be Sunday, October 28 from 12-4 pm. Participants should bring flashlights, dress warmly and wear good walking shoes.

For more information, call the Woodcock Nature Center at             203-762-7280      .
