First Snow Storm of 2014, Wilton Schools on Early Dismissal

The National Weather Service has a winter storm warning in effect until Friday, Jan. 3 at 1:00p.m. The NES forcasts heavy snow, strong winds and dangerously cold wind chills expected Thursday night and into Friday afternoon.

NWS forecasts snow and blowing snow, with accumulations of 6 to 10 inches, winds north 10 to 20 MPH with gusts up to 35 MPH. Wind chills falling to near zero late Thursday night and from 5 below to near 15° below zero on Friday. Visibilities one quarter mile or less at times. 

NWS forecasts temperatures in the 20s into Thursday evening, then falling through the teens late Thursday night into Friday. Single digits friday morning in the interior valleys.

Wilton High School and Middlebrook Schools: 10:30a.m.

Cider Mill School: 11:30a.m.

Miller-Driscoll School: 12:30a.m.

Shoveling, Sanding, De-Icing

Free Sand is available to Wilton Residents at Town Hall. Great for use on slippery driveways and sidewalks. Bring your own container and a shovel. The pile is located up the main Town Hall Drive and to the left. It is labelled with a sign "Resident Sand".
