In partnership with the Town of Wilton, the Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce Wilton’s 2nd Annual Scarecrow Fest is back! The contest, open to town businesses, organizations and families, will challenge participants to construct creative scarecrows to be displayed during the last two weeks of October in Wilton Center. The scarecrows will be attached to seventy-six town lampposts beginning October 19th.  A panel of judges will award top honors to five entries.

The scarecrow project was originally proposed by First Selectman Bill Brennan last year as a means to attract retail shoppers and visitors to Wilton Center to stroll along the sidewalks with family and friends to view the imaginative straw men (and women) during the last half of October. Wilton’s 2nd Annual Scarecrow Fest will run in tandem with the Pumpkin Parade Trick-or-Treat Walk on Saturday, October 27th, and the annual Halloween Hustle 5K and Scarecrow Scamper Kids’ Run on Sunday, October 28th. The October event trifecta promotes Wilton Center as a vibrant destination to shop and dine while participating in family-friendly community events.

The Wilton Chamber of Commerce and the Town have worked closely together to organize this exciting and fun event for the community. Bill Brennan commented, “With the overwhelming success of last year’s Scarecrow Fest, we look forward with great anticipation to this year’s entries.”

Scarecrow kits will be available at Trackside on October 9th through October 12th from 10am-4pm. The kits, which will sell for $25, include wooden post frames and hay. Scarecrows may represent a business or group’s identity or be decorated just for fun. They will be installed on Wilton Center lampposts on or about October 19th and will remain through November 2nd. Official rules and registration forms can be downloaded from the Wilton Chamber’s website, located at www.wiltonchamber.com, and will be limited to the first seventy-six entries postmarked by October 5th. Judging will be completed and winners announced at the Pumpkin Parade at 2pm on Saturday, October 27th. The Scarecrow Fest, Pumpkin Parade, and Halloween Hustle events are sponsored by the Wilton Chamber of Commerce.

PR - It appears that the writer of this item is none other than McMurphy who has been polluting theRead More Patch since the new format arose (just click on the writer's name and you will be taken to McMurphy's profile page). This person is also Randall McMurphy and all the old names including AZ. From all indications, he/she is also DB Cooper so this person is posting on this Board and then commenting on his/her own posts. As someone pointed out a couple of weeks ago, trying to trick other readers is a violation of the Patch's rules, and yet it continues.

@DB Cooper: Oh, you mean how you used your multiple personalities and screen names to flag me intoRead More oblivion? The thing is, it won't work this time. Try again, stalker. Try harder. LOL! You don't have enough fake personalities this time around to do such a thing. Thanks again for stopping by my blog. :) LOL! Hook, line, sinker.
