continues its New Perspectives Film Series with a screening of "Afghan Star" 7:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, in the Brubeck Room.
"Afghan Star" is also the name of an American Idol-style TV show in Afghanistan that is open to everyone across the country despite gender, ethnicity or age is enlightening. The film follows 4 young contestants-two men and two women and shows striking contrasts in Afghanistan's struggle for modernity.
It is the winner of the Directing and Audience Awards in Sundance's 2009 World Documentary competition.
