Brubeck Brothers Open 15th Season of Arts Sunday

The Arts at St. Matthew's new season begins on Sunday, October 16 at 4:00 pm with the Brubeck Trio, brothers Darius, Chris and Dan, performing selections from Dave Brubeck’s jazz mass “To Hope!  A Celebration” accompanied by the St. Matthew’s choirs and a brass quintet. Rarely do the Brubeck brothers perform in concert together, although they played in a surprise appearance at the Kennedy Center in 2009 when their father, Wilton resident Dave Brubeck, received a medal honoring his accomplishments as a jazz musician. Russell Gloyd, longtime Brubeck manager, will conduct the choirs and quintet.  The Brothers – Darius at the piano, Chris, bass and trombone,  and Dan, drums – will be joined by special guest artist Mike Rossi, saxophone, for a variety of jazz
selections.

Following the Brubeck concert, the Arts at St. Matthew’s
announces four more concerts in its 2011-12 Series.

On Sunday, December 4 at 4:00 pm the Manhattan Choral Ensemble, a 40-voice choir from New  York City, will herald the Christmas season with“Joy!”, their own innovative program of topical readings and choral works.
