Fred Teardo, pipe organ virtuoso, plays concert at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church

The American Guild of Organists in cooperation with "The Arts at St. Matthew's" will present a concert by the young organ virtuoso, Frederick Teardo, on Friday, October 29 at 8pm. Music by Elgar, Dupré, Franck, Schumann, Travers, and Reger will be featured. Mr. Teardo will perform on St. Matthew's new pipe organ built by the Reuter Organ Company of Lawrence Kansas. The concert will take place at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 36 New Canaan Road, Wilton, Connecticut. There is no admission fee, but a freewill offering will be accepted to support the American Guild of Organists' Education Fund.

Frederick Teardo is Associate Organist at Saint Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue in New York City, where he holds primary responsibility for service playing, accompanying the Choir of Men and Boys, and training the Junior Choir. An avid performer, Mr. Teardo has won first prize in numerous competitions and has performed in major venues across the United States.  He has also been a featured performer at Regional and National Conventions of the American Guild of Organists and Organ Historical Society, on the American Public Media's Pipedreams, BBC Radio 3, and in a segment on the revived interest of the pipe organ on ABC World News Tonight.

The new pipe organ, built by the esteemed Reuter Organ Company, Opus 2234, was given by the family of John and Mary Brock in loving memory of John's mother, Anise McDaniel Brock. Composed of three manuals (keyboards), a pedal board, and 3,140 pipes, the new pipe organ was played for the first time in January of this year. The St. Matthew's instrument was the cover photo and feature article for the September issue of The American Organist, the national magazine of the American Guild of Organists and the Associated Pipe Organ Builders of America.
