New Board Game Demo

Oofdah! Games Inc., a family-owned company based in Fairfield, recently launched a new strategy game called “The Gate.” The game is already available in several local stores, including The Toy Chest of Wilton. A game demonstration (demo) will be held at Trackside Teen Center on Thursday, April 12th from 3 to 5 p.m.

The Gate is a challenging strategy game for 2 to 5 players, ages 11 and up. It combines the competitive spirit of a classic board game with the fun and fantasy of a role-playing game. According to Michael Zanetti, Founder of Oofdah! Games, years of design and testing went into creating The Gate. “It’s a great family game,” he said, “so an 11 year old can play. But the game is full of strategy, so it poses a challenge for teens, college students, and adults.”

In a recent review, ToysBulletin.com raved, “The Gate is a magnificent game. (It) seemed to introduce some new element of strategy each time we played, and that is rare to find in today's board games.” The Gate contains over 330 cards, 10 specially designed dice, and custom zinc pieces. Beginner and advanced rules are included.

Mr. Zanetti, who grew up in Fairfield and attended Fairfield University, teaches piano. He tested the game extensively with family, friends, as well as piano students. “Without question, the testing phase was key,” he said. “We had to make sure the rules were clear and concise so the game could compete in a tough market.”
