Sing Me to Heaven: Music of Hope, Love and Transformation

The “Arts at St. Matthew’s” will present a concert entitled “Sing me to Heaven: Music of Hope, Love, and Transformation” on Sunday, March 27 at 4pm performed by the parish choirs and soloists conducted by Rodney Ayers. The program will include music of Handel, Schubert, Parry, Gawthrop, MacMillan, Casals, Guettel, Halley and others. The concert will take place at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 36 New Canaan Road, Wilton, Connecticut. There is no admission fee, but a freewill offering will be received.

 

The Parish Choirs include more than fifty singers spanning ages from second grade through adult. In addition to singing each Sunday at the church, the choirs have offered several concerts in recent years and have appeared with such luminaries as Dave Brubeck, Judy Collins, the Paul Winter Consort, Maureen McGovern and Stephen Schwartz.

Featured vocal soloists will include Emily Curtis, Ralph Ficker, Lexi Gaillard, Katie Hanson, Alfred Jennings, Jr., Michael Kaelin, Susan Marnell, Janet Nobles, Lindsay Waack, and Jeanne Wentworth. Vincent Edwards, Director of Music at St. Paul’s on the Green in Norwalk, will accompany both at the piano and the at the church’s new Reuter pipe organ that contains over three thousand pipes.
