Waking Twain

In Mark Twain's own words, and from diaries and letters of his friends and family, the Wilton Historical Society at 224 Danbury Road, turns the final page on its exhibit, Wilton's Neighbor: Mark Twain, with an evening entitled, Waking Twain. The event begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31.

Drama students from Wilton High School will bring Mark Twain's final years to life. Drawn from the author's speeches, letters, diaries and from the letters of those closest to him, the performance recounts the eventful days at Mark Twain's home in Redding, including his move to town, founding of the local library, the burglary of his home and more.

A special item on display is the final bill from Mark Twain's funeral, on loan from the Bouton Funeral Home in Georgetwon, which handled the arrangements.
