Wilton Farmers Market (2011 location)

The Wilton Farmers’ Market is getting ready to kick off its summer season in its new site, the Wilton Historical Society, located along the newly expanded Route 7 at 224 Danbury Road in Wilton. The market is making its 2011 debut every Wednesday from 2-6pm, May 25th through September 28th.

Supported by the Wilton Chamber of Commerce, the Wilton Historical Society, and the Wilton Library, the market is comprised of local farmers and artisans who come together to provide shoppers a venue in which to purchase the best products from local vendors.

The weekly outdoor market will feature local produce, baked goods, soaps and teas from Ambler Farm, Killam + Bassett Farm, Knife, Fork + Spoon, Mamacat’s Q. Tea, Nod Hill Soap, Shultze’s Farm, Wave Hill Breads and the Whistle Stop Bakery. It will also serve as a community gathering place to educate the public about eating locally and making nutritious, healthy food choices.

This year, the Wilton Farmers' Market has appointed a Market Manager, Catherine Romer, who will be responsible for recruiting vendors for the market and making sure that the market runs smoothly every week.

A new website detailing the market's dates, times, location (with map), parking information, 2011 vendors, seasonal menu planning and contact information has been built and is now live at www.wiltonfarmersmarket.com

“We were very proud to have played an integral part in launching the Wilton Farmers’ Market,” said Kathy Leeds, Executive Director of the Wilton Library. “We are equally gratified at this stage to partner with the Wilton Chamber of Commerce and the Wilton Historical Society in transitioning the market to its new space.” She continued, “The visibility of the Wilton Historical Society from Route 7 was a primary driver in moving the location from the Wilton Library. Add to that the natural tie to Wilton’s agrarian roots, the idyllic rustic barn, and the very agricultural nature of the property, and it was the ideal choice of venue to host the weekly market.”

Exhibitors who are interested in receiving more information or who wish to participate in the Wilton Farmers’ Market should contact the Wilton Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Director, Torie Clancy, at info@wiltonchamber.com or call 203.762.0567. Space is limited and will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
