'First Position' To Be Screened at Wilton Library

The New Perspectives film series, moderated by Megan Smith-Harris, features a documentary on dancing.

 

Dancers and fans of dance alike: An award-winning documentary will be screened in the Brubeck Room this weekend as part of the Wilton Library's New Perspectives film series.

The film series is moderated by Megan Smith-Harris, who reached out to Patch to promote First Position, a documentary on six dancers trying to realize their dreams.

"First Position is a joyful, visually beautiful, well-executed documentary that scored an impressive 96% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and also was selected for a number of prestigious film festivals," she wrote in an email. "It is also family-friendly and a must-see for anyone who is interested in dance (though you don't have to be involved in the dance world to appreciate and enjoy the film)."

The film is directed Bess Kargman, and it is her first feature.

"She is young and talented," Smith-Harris wrote.

The screening is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. There will be a question-and-answer session with Smith-Harris following the movie's conclusion.
