Small Business Shenanigans in Wilton!

You just cannot make this stuff up!!!  So...  I'm in my shop last Friday in the early afternoon when 2 young women walk in holding clipboards.  I was working with a client at the time, but I looked up, smiled and said, "Can I help you?".  One of the women said, "Oh, we'll wait for you to finish up."  I informed the women that I was going to be a while and that it was not a "good time".  The other woman looked at me and said, "We have an exciting opportunity to discuss with you from AT&T."  I, again, smiled politely and reiterated that it was not a good time.  The women looked at each other, made "unhappy" faces at me, shrugged their shoulders and "left".

55 minutes later, a customer called to tell me that someone had left a "scathing review" on Facebook regarding my company.  Within 2 minutes I had ascertained that the woman who left the review was one of the woman in my shop soliciting and I had called her boss and the owner of the company that she was working for.  The owner was appalled.  This isn't even the craziest part!!!  While looking at my security cameras, of which I have 8 inside and outside my shop, I saw something C-R-A-Z-Y.  After the two women left my shop...  They stayed outside in the common hallway for a little while, apparently leaving the bad review and then proceeded to vandalize, break and steal my things that were outside in the foyer.  I have the entire thing on tape.  Upon sending this footage to the owner of the company, she called and informed me that she had terminated the women.
I learned from the Wilton PD, (Thank you Officer Sisenstein) that soliciting without a permit is illegal and that anyone walking into a business in Wilton, must have this permit clearly displayed on their person.  I have at least 2 solicitors a week in my place.  I'm on the lookout for permit badges now!

I also learned that security cameras are the only way to maintain a fair balance in a society where some people just behave badly.  I'm bummed though...  These women were NOT kids.  What poor role modeling.
