Two More Days of Wet Weather; Then Sunny, Dry, Weather Returns!

Rainy and Cool Again Today, But Sunny Weather Returns Thursday!

Good Morning,

A wave of low pressure on this morning's weather map continues to generate some very light, spotty rain in parts of the mid-Atlantic region... Although the rain shouldn't bring much more than a tenth of an inch to all but a handful of coastal communities today, there should be plenty of clouds...

The prospects for seeing the sun for more than a few minutes are limited, so most area temperatures are going to be hard-pressed to reach 60 this afternoon... By and large, many places will fail to get out of the 50s, with a light northeast wind and a rich supply of low-level moisture...

The primary flow tonight and early tomorrow morning will still be out of the east and northeast, so we must continue to at least allow for some drizzle and fog, if not a period of steadier, albeit light rain late tonight into tomorrow morning...

Again, the steadiest rain during the next 24 hours will probably be encountered on eastern Long Island and in southeastern New England... And, even these places are only expected to get around a third of an inch when all is said and done...

If the surface wind shifts around to the south and west later tomorrow like they are being forecasted by most of the models to do so, then the extensive clouds should break for some sunshine, and the temperature will reach the mid and upper 60s... But, we must also be on the lookout for an afternoon or early nighttime shower here, because the next cold front will be reaching the coastal plain early tomorrow night...

The Yankees playoff game in the Bronx tomorrow evening will have a first pitch temperature "around 60", with plenty of clouds and perhaps a brief shower... Because there are other playoff games in Cincinnati and in Oakland this afternoon/tonight which may ultimately determine whether or not the Yankee game begins shortly after 7:30 p.m. (or 8:30 p.m.) -- we have to apply a 'generic' approach to this forecast for the time being... But honestly, an hour won't make that much of a difference!

Thursday should be a much sunnier day, but it will also be slightly cooler than tomorrow in most places... Another cold front will be reaching the East Coast late on Thursday night or early Friday, which could trigger a shower in a few spots... Then, a high pressure system building into the Eastern Region by the end of this week should promote a good deal of sunshine for the start of the upcoming weekend... While most weekend temperatures are expected to be in the lower and middle 60s, our initial projections are that it will be a dry one, too.

Monday looks to warm to 72 degrees and the rest of next week looks to be in the 70s!

Have a good day!!!
