The combination of rising fuel costs and Connecticut's new gas tax have pushed the price of gas in the state higher than anywhere else in New England.

The state's $3.997 average for a gallon of regular unleaded is also nearly 32 cents more than the national average, according to Gas Buddy, a website that tracks prices.

Locally, in the Bridgeport area, you'll pay a few more cents per gallon at the pump, as regular is going for an average of $4.021.

South Carolina is home to the cheapest gas in the U.S., at $3.319 per gallon, Gas Buddy reports.

Where's the cheapest gas in Weston, Redding and Easton?
