Connecticut Ranked 34th in Income Growth

The state saw modest income growth in the first half of 2012.

Connecticut’s growth in personal income for the first half of 2012 came in at the low end of the New England region and 34th in the nation.

The total income rose .9 percent in Connecticut; the same was Vermont and Maine. Massachusetts had the highest growth in New England at 1.2 percent, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

The total personal income in Connecticut is more than all of New England – not counting Massachusetts – combined at $207 billion.

In the U.S., the fastest-growing income was in oil-rich North Dakota, which saw a 2.1 percent increase.

An organization recently looked at the total median income of males and females and found that women make 78 cents for every dollar a man makes.
