GreenSprays Helps Get Rid of Pests Organically

The Milford-based company has sponsored three local Little League teams.

Spring has sprung.

Many look forward to the warmer weather in store even if it means mosquitoes and other nuisance pests will return with it.

Founded in 2012, a Fairfield County-based company seeks to help homeowners rid themselves of those pests on their properties while helping turn their lawns into something of which to be proud.

GreenSprays, based out of Milford and operating throughout Fairfield County, is the brainchild of Stacy Skoldberg, who manages the company with arborist Frank Clancy.

GreenSprays "is an organic and traditional horticultural spray business, meaning we spray for ticks, deer, geese, mosquitoes and other nuisance pests plus handle lawn items like weeds, grubs and fertilizer," Skoldberg told Patch.

Skoldberg, a mother, is a fan of the outdoors and thinks that all kids should enjoy it as well. She said she came up with the idea for the company after her daughter was diagnosed with a lung disease.

"I couldn't have toxins near her and I certainly couldn't keep my pets and kids off the lawn for 24 hours," she said. "I founded GreenSprays ... after testing and researching organic and natural alternatives with chemists for three years prior to that."

GreenSprays is sponsoring Little League teams in Weston, Easton and Wilton this season.

"We find that these three towns have a great desire for organic and natural alternatives to typical toxins placed on yards," she said. "Our products stand out by kids and pets being able to go on the lawn after 15 minutes [after use] as opposed to 24 hours like a traditional company using old toxin techniques such as thiram (for deer sprays) and bifrenthrin (for tick sprays)."

Sponsoring the baseball teams was a no-brainer for the company.

"We want the children outside and not simply peering out onto beautiful lawns," Skoldberg said. "My business partner and I are both outdoors people and think children should know more about nature than what's on TV."

Many creepy crawly bugs, ants, Elder bugs, silverfish, stink bugs etc, in your home can be safely killed with a mixture of liquid dish soap and water in a spray bottle. This coats the insects in a bubble and they cannot breath. they die in a few inch crawl. Then you just wipe it all up and clean at the same time.

GreenSpray sounds like a great way to help with the out of door pest this summer. Another way you can get rid of mosquitoes in the summer is have the Bats in your yard make a meal of then. The bats just need a place to stay during the day. Check out our Bat Houses at http://www.batsbirdsyard.com/ 5 models to choose from.
