The Changing Face of Wilton Retail

With notable closings -- and optimistic store openings -- business in Wilton is definitely different these days.

There's change afoot on the Wilton business landscape, as the town prepares to say goodbye to big-box bookseller Borders, among other stores, but welcomes a more diverse array of additional retailers.

While the town's Rte. 7 corridor can offer potential promise of traffic to retailers desperate for passing customer notice, it doesn't always guarantee success. No matter the location, even established retailers are trying all sorts of things to expand and vary their appeal to customers.

With growing attention to Wilton's grand list and budget issues, there's increased focus on the role our town's business base can play in keeping the town out of the red.

Here's a glimpse at some of the changing players in the Wilton business community.
