Westport CEO Donates $286k Poker Prize to Sandy Hook Victims

Bridgewater Associates CEO Greg Jensen, who came in sixth place at the $100,000 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Super High Roller tournament, donated his entire $286,200 prize to the victims of the school shooting in Newtown.

Stacked against 46 opponents, many of whom are professional poker players, Bridgewater Associates CEO Greg Jensen took home sixth place in the $100,000 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Super High Roller tournament and donated his entire $286,200 cash prize to the victims of the school shooting in Newtown, according to PokerStars.com.

Jensen, an amateur poker player who played for fun when he was younger, found his way into the Main Event after one of his colleagues gifted him the $100,000 entrance as a birthday present, according to Bluff.com

Jensen started at Bridgewater (ranked the best-performing and largest hedge fund manager in the world in both 2010 and 2011) as an intern while at Dartmouth. He is now co-CEO and co-CIO, alongside founder Ray Dalio.

For the past two years Jensen has ranked in the top five on CNN’s “40 Under 40” list. He was also named to the “Top 10 Young Business Stars Under 40” list.

Bridgewater Associates expanded from 100 employees in 2003 to more than 1,200 by 2011, a number that will soon expand. The company will move from Westport to Stamford as part of Governor Dannel Malloy’s “Next Five" economic aid program, which will give Bridgewater a $25 million construction loan at a rate of one percent for 10 years. In exchange, the company will be required to create 1,000 new jobs over the next 10 years.

The hedge fund currently manages approximately $130 billion in global investments for a variety of clients, according to Bridgewater's website.

PR - It appears that the writer of this item is none other than McMurphy who has been polluting theRead More Patch since the new format arose (just click on the writer's name and you will be taken to McMurphy's profile page). This person is also Randall McMurphy and all the old names including AZ. From all indications, he/she is also DB Cooper so this person is posting on this Board and then commenting on his/her own posts. As someone pointed out a couple of weeks ago, trying to trick other readers is a violation of the Patch's rules, and yet it continues.
