Wilton Chief Economist Says Economy "Gets No Respect"

Reuters reports that new home construction in the U.S. is the highest it has been in six months.

Michael Strauss is the chief economist at Commonfund in Wilton and, according to him, the economy "gets no respect" but is "doing significantly better" of late.

In a Reuters article that highlights encouraging data in the housing and industrial sectors, Strauss is quoted as saying recent indicators show the national economy heading in a good direction.

Strauss' comments come as new home construction numbers hit a six-month high in January and with the Federal Reserve reporting national industrial production up by 0.9 percent.
