The West Lane Inn Celebrates 35 Years in Ridgefield

The West Lane Inn at 22 West Lane, Ridgefield, is proudly celebrating its 35th year.  The Inn is owned and managed by Debbie Prieger whose mother, Maureen Mayer, established the Inn in 1978.

The West Lane Inn property dates back to 1849 when it was built as a private residence.  Harvey Bissell, of Bissell’s Pharmacy, and his family moved into the home in the late 1890’s.  When Ms. Mayer purchased the property, it was a boarding house with the last surviving Bissell living in an apartment on the first floor.

Ms. Mayer’s extensive renovations resulted in fourteen beautiful and unique guest rooms, each with private bath, as well as a charming breakfast room in the main house.  In 2006, the “cottage” in the rear of the property was built and includes rooms and suites with kitchenettes and private decks for long-term guests.
