A Little Miracle Puppy

The Immigration Law Offices of Cynthia R. Exner is a proud sponsor of the charitable dog rescue organization known as Tails of Courage, located in Danbury, CT.  This is the story of one of their dogs which is currently available for adoption.

“My name is Molly.  I am a German shepherd mix.  There has been so much interest in my good friend, Bear (who is also a German shepherd pure bred) that I thought I would tell you my story.  Since I’m a German shepherd also, maybe someone would be interested in me.  I am about 2 years old, and I have never lived in a home.

I am a little girl from West Virginia.  My mommy got pregnant and had her litter of puppies.  I was one of the puppies in that litter.  But, my mommy’s owner didn’t want puppies.  Times were hard financially for some families in rural West Virginia.  My owner couldn’t afford to take care of my mommy and a litter of puppies too.  Our owner couldn’t afford to help my mother raise her puppies.  Our owner couldn’t afford to feed us all or provide us all with the medical attention that we all needed.  We were all neglected; especially my mother.  She tried to do the very best that she could for me and my brothers and sisters.  But, my mother got very sick, and her owner couldn’t afford to take her to the vet. Our owner could have called a local rescue organization, but he didn’t.  Instead, he took us all out into his backyard, and shot us all with his gun.  My mother was hit with a bullet and killed, and fell on top of me.  After he shot us all, he left us in a pile in the backyard and drove away.

A neighbor saw what had happened, and sneaked over to the backyard to check on all of us, and saw us all dead, lying in a pile on top of each other.  She turned and was about to leave, when she heard what she thought was a sound.  The neighbor thought she heard a whimper from the heap.  When my mother was shot, she fell on me with her body, and had shielded me from the bullets.  The neighbor found me alive under my mother’s body.  The neighbor had to dig me out from under the pile of dead dogs, and took me back to her house next door.

But the neighbor couldn’t really afford to raise me either, and left me tied up outside for almost 2 years.  I was fed, and given water, but I really never had a home.  The neighbor felt sad for me, and sad that she couldn’t afford to give me the good home that I deserved.  She finally called a local rescue organization and asked if they could take me and try to find a good home for me.  Kind rescue workers came for me, untied me, and took me away.  I have been vetted, spayed and I am up to date on all my shots.  Tails of Courage was contacted, and has paid for all of my vet bills and for my transportation to Connecticut.  I have been living at the Tails of Courage kennel, One Pembroke Road, Danbury, CT for a little while now.  I am a very sweet little girl, even though I have been through so much.

If you are interested in a German shepherd mix, please come and visit me, or my good friend Big Mac who is also a German shepherd mix.  You can see both of us at www.tailsofcourage.org.

The next Adoption Event is on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Petsmart, 525 Connecticut Avenue, Norwalk, CT from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.  Big Mac and I will probably not be at the event because there just isn’t enough room for all of us in the cargo van.  But, we really would like to be adopted and have a home of our own.

I am a little holiday miracle dog.  So, if you need a little miracle in your life, perhaps I’m the dog for you?”
