This Thanksgiving, Add a Blessing for the Face Staring Up at You From Under the Table

The Immigration Law Offices of Cynthia R. Exner, LLC is a proud sponsor of Tails of Courage, a 501c(3) charitable organization dedicated to rescuing adult dogs and puppies and offering them for adoption. Tails of Courage was founded by a survivor of the World Trade Center attacks, in honor of the brave men and women who gave their lives rescuing others, and to the remarkable rescue dogs who participated in the search efforts at Ground Zero.

Tails of Courage offers adult dogs and puppies for adoption every day, 7 days per week, because the dogs and puppies don’t know that it’s a weekend or a holiday.  They just know that they need to be fed and given fresh water every day.  The following is the story of one of the rescue puppies currently waiting for her forever family, in her own words:

“My name is Miss Piggy.  I was born in South Carolina and discarded on the side of the road with my litter.  My mama got pregnant and her owners didn’t want puppies. Some families cannot afford to have their pets spayed.  My brothers and sisters were taken by some kind friends, but no one wanted me. I was “put out” to perish in the wild.

Kind rescue workers found me wandering around, hungry and scared and tried to take me to the local animal shelter.  But, the local shelter couldn’t take me because they are very small and were filled to capacity.  I was placed on the euthanasia list solely because of lack of space.  At the very last moment, a call was placed to Tails of Courage in Danbury, CT.  Would TOC take me?  YES!  Tails of Courage paid for me to be vetted, spayed and arranged for me to be housed with a foster family in South Carolina until I was strong enough to travel.

A pilot named Steve Hall, from New York, generously donated his time and the use of his own private airplane to fly me up to Tails of Courage, along with 7 other abandoned and discarded puppies.  He loaded us into crates, packed the crates into his Cirrus aircraft and flew us up to Reliant Air Terminal at Danbury Airport arriving shortly after noon on Sunday, October 27, 2013.  This was the first puppy rescue air transport for Tails of Courage, and a very special occasion.

I am a female, approximately 17 week old Dogo Argentino, according to the vet’s best estimate.  I am a very special breed known for its solid white coat.  My breed is also known for being trained for search and rescue, police assistance, service dogs and military work.  My breed has been bred for socialization with other dogs and is well suited for group environments.  Aggressive traits have been specifically bred out of my breed, and we are known for getting along with everyone.  I have a life expectancy of 9 to 20 years!  I am a very sweet little girl.  I am living at the Tails of Courage kennel at One Pembroke Road, Danbury, CT right now.  TOC is open every day, 7 days a week, from 9:00 to 5:30 for adoptions.  You can complete an adoption application online at www.tailsofcourage.org , come and meet your new family member and take your new pet home with you the day that you come to TOC and fall in love.

Tails of Courage has another 30 puppies arriving for adoption so TOC kennel will be filled to overflowing this Thanksgiving.  Our next adoption event is at Choice Pet Supply, 1947 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield, CT on Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 1 to 3.  Please tell everyone you know to come out and meet our new babies, and consider adopting one of us for the holidays

TOC has a rescue pet for everyone.  Won’t you share your Thanksgiving with one of us?
