Grab the Kids for a Family Weekend out Before School Starts

This weekend take the kids to read to canines, watch a movie on the beach and take a guided tour through an aquarium.

Where/When: The Wilton Library/ Saturday August 27th from 11 a.m. until noon.

Why Go: Dog loving children will especially enjoy reading out loud to ROAR’s (Ridgefield Operation Animal Rescue) Therapy Dogs for this unique experience.

Family Outdoor Movie Night

Where/When: Shady Beach in Norwalk (next to Calf Pasture Beach) on Calf Pasture Beach Road 203-854-7938/Saturday August 27th at 5:30 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy the last few summer evenings outdoors. Fun activities for kids will start off the evening and keep little brains and bodies entertained until the movie, Shrek Forever After, which starts at dusk.

How Much: $5 for cars without a Norwalk Beach sticker.

 

4th Annual Old Fashioned Flea Market

Where/When: Lockwood-Matthews Mansion 295 West Avenue in Norwalk/Sunday August 28th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: This family event is so much more than just a flea market! In addition to the toys, collectibles and antiques that vendors will be selling at the market, there will also be a car show, an All-American barbecue and a Dixieland Band. The Norwalk Fire and Police Departments will be there to teach kids about fire drills and fingerprinting.

How Much: Free

 

Maritime Aquarium Guided Tour

Where/When: Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk/Saturday August 27th at noon and 2 p.m.

Why Go: Families are invited to take a guided tour through the aquarium’s galleries. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

How Much: Aquarium admission ($12.95 adults; $11.95 senior citizens; $9.95 kids ages 2 through 12) plus $2 each for the guided tour.

 

Children’s Play Garden Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Where/When: New Canaan Nature Center/Sunday August 28th at 2 p.m.

Why Go: Be one of the first families to enjoy the new Children’s Play Garden.
