More updates forthcoming as they are available.

*Previously reported as 20 Pond Road; this was innaccurate, as the incident has occured at 26 Pond Road.

Wow! Chemical spill! Hazmat! As a resident on a road very nearby Pond Road, I am most certainly concerned. Do we know what chemical was spilled and in what quantity? Do we know what directions the aquifers flow and which wells on which roads may be comprised? Pond Road has a very high water table. Perhaps the health department needs to contacts residents and provide information which may prevent us from getting seriously ill.

Please tell us which chemical (s) spilled, the quantity, and how. Why isnt this information in the report?

Because they are doing "damage control" both literally and figuratively and don't want lawsuits. But I smell lawsuits and plenty of Fairfield County lawyers are sharpening their pencils and their fangs right about now. Sometimes, the effects don't show up for years from haz/mat spills. Ellen Brockovich, where are you when you're needed most?!!

That information can be found here: http://patch.com/A-tZcS

The only true information in that article is about the "containment" chemicals that were put into the ground and not the chemicals which brought out Hazmat and forced road closure. I tried calling the health dept, environmental dept, and Mr. Brennan's office, and was greeted with recorded messages. The fire department, because they have to, did answer the phone but put me through to a recorded message from the Chief asking for me t oleave a message. Please, Mr. Donofrio, show your investigative skills as a reporter, and tell us the what and the how much of this spill. Please.
