"The Wedding," Starring Robert DeNiro, Diane Keaton, and Robin Williams to be Filmed in Greenwich

Overnight shooting privileges at the Burning Tree Country Club were given to the movie's producer.

The Greenwich Board of Selectmen gave a three thumbs up Thursday to a Riverside movie producer's request that his company be allowed to shoot scenes of an upcoming movie, "The Wedding," during overnight hours at the Burning Tree Country Club.

Clay Pecorin, producer of "The Wedding," starring Robert DeNiro, Diane Keaton, Katherine Heigl, Robin Williams and Susan Sarandon, appeared before the board seeking the one-time exemption to a town ordinance that prohibits movie shoots between midnight and 6 a.m.

Pecorin runs Two Ton Films which is based in Greenwich and New York City, said, "100 percent of the movie will be shot in Greenwich" in about six weeks. He said that previous arrangements to film scenes in Darien fell through. Two Ton Films also produced the 2007 blockbuster "The Bucket List," starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman.

"We certainly applaud your efforts. I certainly do not have issue with it," First Selectman Peter Tesei said of the production. Pecorin said that all neighbors of the country club agreed to the July 29 overnight filming of swimming pool scenes of the comedy that is expected to be released in 2012. Pecorin said actors' schedules and the country club schedule necessitated the need for an overnight shoot.

The three-member board unanimously approved the exemption.

Directing the film is Pecorin's fellow Greenwich High grad Justin Zackham, who wrote "The Bucket List" screenplay. According to Variety, DeNiro and Keaton star as divorced parents who pretend to be still be married when their adopted son gets married.

Over the years, Greenwich has been the locale for many movies including "Revolutionary Road" and "The Stepford Wives." This isn't the first time Greenwich has been the backdrop for movies involving DeNiro and Williams. Back in 2007, "Old Dogs," starring Williams and John Travolta was shot downtown and in Byram including Byram Beach Park. Over the years, Sarandon, who lives in Westchester County, has been spotted shopping along Greenwich Avenue. Heigl, who starred in television's "Grey's Anatomy" and the popular movies "Knocked Up" and "27 Dresses," grew up in New Canaan.
