WSJ: A Wilton Without Borders

The well known bookstore chain will close its Wilton location.

Imagine a Wilton without borders; the bookstore, that is.

The well known national book retailer filed for bankruptcy Wednesday morning according to an article in the Wall Street Journal.

As part of that filing, the WSJ reports that the chain will shutter at least 200 of its locations around the country. Included in that list is the Wilton location at 14 Danbury Road.

We had had a wonderful book store in town in the Stop & Shop shopping center, Wilton Open Book. Now, the big-box book seller may be leaving because it apparently can not sustain itself. It is sad when hands-on exposure to books and collateral or supplemental materials are no longer available locally. Certainly, the internet has its affects, but the economy as a whole may be the more influential component.
