ARTIST EXHIBITION: Stanley Bate

ARTIST EXHIBITION: Stanley Bate

Boldly and thematically represented through his abstract pieces of art. It doesn’t take long before Stanley Bate is uniquely recognized by even the most common of eyes.  From colorful bold patterns to subtle and light brush strokes, Bate certainly wears his heart on canvas! Born in the early 1900’s he brings forth a timeless structure of pollution less and powerfully mastered works of art. Coming from an era where art not only served as a release of creative energy, but also as a mother whom birthed the greatest masters of our time, Bate’s certainly stood strong amongst such legends. He broke through tradition and stepped out to pave way to many of those whom not only saw the world in impressionism, but also in the light of abstract. Though, no longer with us, passing away in 1972, Bate has never been more alive. He leaves behind a continued thumb throughout all of his paintings, as his heart will forever beat through them.

Born in Tennessee, he received his art education at Watkins Institute, Nashville, the Art Students League, New York, as well as in France and Switzerland. He and his wife lived in Claverack, New York from the Late 1940’s until his passing.

Bate has stated: “Art is not an object, but an experience. To be able to perceive it, we need to be receptive…” Experience the beauty through his paintings at Sorelle Gallery New Canaan, as we exhibit his work from July 25th through August 7th.
