I (Heart) CT Don't Waste CT Free Chocolate Reception and Movie Screening of Gasland 2

On Tuesday, Feb. 11, NCC CARES and BEST will be hosting a free screening of the documentary film GASLAND II in the Pepsico Theater at 7 p.m. Free dessert and organic chocolate will be served in the Atrium at 6:30 p.m. prior to the screening.

This is a sequel to the first GASLAND, which exposed the negative environmental effects of hydraulic fracturing or “fracking” as it is commonly referred to. The film also exposed the questionable government regulations allowing fracturing companies to be exempt from the Federal Clean Air and Clean Water Acts.

In this explosive follow-up to his Oscar-nominated film GASLAND, filmmaker Josh Fox uses his trademark dark humor to take a deeper, broader look at the dangers of hydraulic fracturing, now occurring on a global scale.

The NCC Committee for Active and Responsible Environmental Sustainability (CARES) and the Building Efficiency and Sustainable Technology Program (BEST) are partnering with Food and Water Watch, and the CT Fracking Waste Ban Coalition to present this important film.

Dr David Brown, public health toxicologist, will speak about health impacts from toxic, radioactive fracking waste. Representatives Jonathan Steinberg & Tony Hwang will provide up-to-date information about legislation to ban fracking waste in CT, and DEEP proposals to regulate fracking waste, with possible disposal at 3-4 sites in western CT.
