WGG/WLA Green Speaker Series: Alison Nicholls with Daryl Hawk
Thursday, Jan. 23, 7 – 8:30 p.m. Alison Nicholls is an Artist inspired by Africa.  Her Conservation Sketching Expeditions allow her to visit African conservation projects, sketch on site and learn about their work conserving endangered species, educating the next generation of conservationists and reducing incidents of human-wildlife conflict.  In this lecture, illustrated with field sketches, studio paintings and video, Alison will discuss her work as an artist in Africa and will explain how she turns a complex conservation issue into a finished painting.  She will also discuss the work of the Painted Dog Conservation project in Zimbabwe and the African People & Wildlife Fund in Tanzania. Alison Nicholls is a member of the Explorers Club, Artists for Conservation, the Salmagundi Club and the Society of Animal Artists.  The US Department of State used her work to promote the 'Coalition Against Wildlife Trafficking' initiative and her work has been exhibited at the Botswana Mission to the United Nations in Manhattan.  Alison will be interviewed by international documentary photographer Daryl Hawk.
