Wilton Reads 2013: The Cutting Season – Attica Locke

Friday, Sept. 27 Wilton Reads 2013: The Cutting Season – Attica Locke, 7 – 8:30 p.m. The selection for Wilton Library’s ninth community reads program, Wilton Reads, is Attica Locke’s The Cutting Season, a thrilling tale that not only exhumes a body but dredges up age-old issues of slavery, race, class and power, examining two crimes – one from today and one that was committed more than a century ago. Ms. Locke will visit the library on Sept. 27 to discuss her work. The New York Times Book Review stated, “Locke draws on the past to remind her characters how much it has shaped their identities and how much it continues to shape the choices they make … the language of her storytelling is sturdy and absorbing.” Q&A, book sales and signing following the talk.  Ms. Locke will be awarded the Grodin Family Fine Writers Award.  Wilton Magazine is the media sponsor.
