It's Getting Chilly and Not Everyone Has a Warm Coat This Fall

The Wilton Congregational Church is holding its annual coat drive and many needy people will be grateful for our generosity. They will also collect linen, bedding and outerwear for adults and children.

Area residents who would like to make a difference this fall can do so by bringing their gently used coats, gloves, sleeping bags, linens and bedding to the Wilton Congregational Church from Sunday, November 3 through Tuesday, November 5. The church will be collecting goods to deliver to area residents in need.

Beneficiaries of this year’s drive are clients of Wilton Social Services, the Open Door Shelter in Norwalk and the Bridgeport Rescue Mission.

“Wilton is always generous in supporting the drive,” said Genevieve Eason, the drive’s organizer. “Last year’s drive was held during the power outage in the aftermath of Super Storm Sandy, and still people came with armloads of donations. Even then, people in town were thinking about those less fortunate.”
