Wilton Police Officers Honored for Traffic Safety Efforts

AAA names Wilton Police Officers Michael Tyler, Anna Tornello, William Barrett and David Hartman 2013 Community Traffic Safety Heroes.

The AAA Southern New England, Connecticut Division, recognized four Wilton Police Officers as 2013 Community Traffic Safety Heroes, during their annual AAA Community Traffic Safety Award Luncheon.

Police Officers Michael Tyler, Anna Tornello, William Barrett and David Hartman were each recognized for their proactive efforts towards educating the community and motorists through awareness and enforcement of motor vehicle laws. 

Officer Tyler has consistently targeted motor vehicle violations to include Distracted Driving and Seatbelt Violations, among the many other violations enforced.

Officer Tornello, a 2013 MADD award recipient, has actively enforced DUI laws along with other motor vehicle violations.

Officer Hartman, a 2012 AAA Hero Award recipient, is committed to motor vehicle enforcement, commercial truck inspections, and is a certified child safety seat technician. 

Officer Barrett has played an integral role in the implementation of the department’s LPR (License Plate Reader) system, and is proactive in the enforcement of motor vehicle violations.

Additionally, the Wilton Police Department received the Bronze award, in recognition of the department’s continuing effort to improve local traffic safety and to educate and protect the citizens of the community.
