Dessert 1st's Mentoring Project

Twelfth Night is a “mentoring project” – Dessert 1^stProductions casts students and adults together to create opportunities for enhanced learning and experience. Students interested in deepening their understanding of the creative process can benefit greatly from seeing first hand how other actors go through their work.  Dessert 1^st Productions places a lot of value on education through mentoring projects; we give students the opportunity to see that they aren’t alone in the creative struggle. Adults go through the same struggles, and together they learn the different ways to persevere. They become aware that being creative is not a race to the finish line. Rather, it is a exploration in process, full of obstacles and failure, that lead to an amazing place of discovery.  The greatest teachers are the ones who are unafraid to learn along with their students.  This idea is at the foundation of our mentoring philosophy.
