The Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc. (WVAC) recently received a $20,000.00 donation from the ABB Foundation. ABB moved its local offices from Merritt 7 in Norwalk to Danbury Road about a year.
“The ABB Foundation is committed to helping improve the quality of life in the communities in which ABB employees live and work. We hope this grant will assist you in a meaningful way,” said Daniel Hagmann, S.V.P. & Chief Investment Officer, Regional Treasurer Americas, ABB Inc. “We are impressed that the volunteers cover the Town 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We are especially thankful for their response during one of our major storms,” added Hagmann.
The Foundation makes direct donations and also matches funds raised by employees to such causes. Funding comes from donations made by ABB employees across the United States and also some funding by the company. The ABB Foundation donation is specifically earmarked for WVAC’s purchase of the PowerLoad System.

Ergonomically designed to reduce operator and patient injuries, Stryker EMS’ Power-LOAD system hydraulically lifts patients weighing up to 700 lbs. The battery-powered hydraulic lift system supports the cot and patient during loading and unloading into and out of the ambulance, reducing spinal loads and the risk of cumulative trauma injuries to the EMS worker. The Power-LOAD cot fastener system will improve WVAC’s operator and patient safety.
