3)  The AED will the advance to the analysis stage and will verbally prompt you as follows:

·      “Do not touch patient. Analyzing rhythm.”

4)  If a shockable rhythm is detected, the AED will prompt you as follows:

·      “Shock Advised. Charging.”

5)  You will hear the AED charging

6)  The AED will then prompt you to:

·      “Stand clear. Push flashing button to deliver shock.”

7)  Be sure no one is touching the patient when the shock is delivered

8)  Press the shock button to deliver shock

9)  Begin CPR for another 2 minutes

10)  After 2 minutes the AED will reanalyze the rhythm

11)  If the AED detects a non-shockable rhythm, the AED will verbally state:

·      “No shock advised”

·      “Continue CPR.  Give 30 compressions then give 2 breaths”

Special Considerations:

·      Pads must be applied to a clean, dry and bare chest

·      AEDs come with a pouch containing: gloves, scissors, razor, small towel and pocket mask to be used as needed.  Always wear gloves.

·      Do not turn the AED off or remove pads from patient even if pulse and responsiveness become present
